Please read the following instructions carefully before flashing your device. Flashing may lead to loss of data and damaged hardware if not done properly. Please contact our customer support if you feel uncomfortable performing the steps below.

We highly recommend backing up all your important personal data before continuing, even in cases where a data wipe is not needed.

Instructions assume you are already on OxygenOS and using the original OnePlus 2 Oxygen Recovery. We have not tested the instructions on all other alternative ROMs, but we have provided basic steps for flashing with TWRP. Please contact our customer support if you have any doubts.

** We cannot guarantee results on rooted devices.

** Attention: We only support dirty flashing of this build using Oxygen recovery. Dirty flashing requires OxygenOS 2.2.0 or higher. Factory reset is needed if you are using any other recovery or coming from any other ROM. We do not guarantee these cases to work properly.

Download the software build for your device at the bottom of this page.
Plug your phone into your computer and copy the downloaded .zip to your phone’s storage. If you’re using a Mac, you can install Android File Transfer for this operation.
After the .zip file is copied to your phone, reboot your phone into recovery mode. To do this, shut down your device and turn it back on while holding the power and volume down buttons simultaneously.
Choose "Install from internal storage/Install from local", find your .zip file and click on "Install" to confirm.
View instructions for TWRP Recovery if you are not using the original Oxygen Recovery.
Switch back to original instructions for Oxygen Recovery
Pay attetion please, flashing OxygenOS through a third party recovery is not officially supported and also not fully tested, this might cause unknown issues. Therefore, we highly recommend using Oxygen Recovery to update OxygenOS.
- If you are on OxygenOS with a TWRP Recovery, you can still dirty flash OxygenOS without losing your data.
  1. Follow above steps, boot into TWRP.
  2. Select “Install” option in twrp recovery.
  3. Select the ROM zip file that you have copied to your phone.
  4. Swipe to flash and then reboot your device.
- If you are using a Custom ROM with TWRP, a clean flash is a must, all your data will be wiped.
  1. Follow above steps, boot into TWRP.
  2. Go to “Wipe” option in twrp recovery.
  3. Swipe to Factory Reset.
  4. Now go back to the home screen of twrp recovery and Select “Install” option.
  5. Select the ROM zip file that you have copied to your phone.
  6. Swipe to flash and then reboot your device.
Wait a while, your phone should now update to the selected build and reboot automatically to take you into OxygenOS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to root my device to flash OxygenOS?

No, however your phone needs to be unlocked.
Will I get OTAs after I flash OxygenOS for future updates?

Yes for every device except for the OnePlus One. OxygenOS is a community ROM for the OnePlus One. The official ROM is CyanogenOS.
Do I need to wipe my data to flash OxygenOS?

Please follow the flashing instructions carefully. In some cases we support upgrading without a data wipe.

However, if you are coming from a system other than OxygenOS, then most likely you would need to do a factory reset. If you are not sure, please contact our customer support.
Do you support rooted users?

We do not officially support rooted users, there isn’t a good way for us to guarantee the stability of the system when the device is rooted.

However, we do have many rooted users and the OnePlus forum is probably the best place to get answers if you have a question about rooting.
Can we use another recovery system other than the Oxygen recovery?

TWRP is a popular recovery and we have provided flashing instructions if you are using TWRP on the OnePlus 2 and X.

The instructions we have provided are device specific, so please make sure you read the instructions for your device.
